At the halfway point of the league campaign it is great to see that we remain competitive and continue to progress as players in the ladies U14 competition. Coming on the back of the successful U13 winter competition where we won the league and narrowly lost out to Cooley in the championship final, it can be difficult to maintain the same levels of play.

We began with an opening match in Cooley that was full of attacking play and flair. And fair play to Cooley on their performance and win. We followed this up with wins versus Hunterstown and the Blues that were largely due to good scoring play by our girls in the opening phases of each match. Our fourth game versus Fechins had an opening half of football that was a joy to behold. Whilst Fechins didn't make it easy, the team played with sublime cohesion and skill to take the win.

Our latest match against the Pats was a good competitive fare. We were short on numbers, but that didn't show on the pitch as the game was evenly contested. The Gers lead 4-04 to 3-06 At half-time, but we commend the Pats on a deserved win 6-06 to 6-09. There are plenty of positives and learnings to take away from the game and to work on in training.

In division 4, the younger girls continue to perform well. The step up from U12s can be difficult as we adjust to 15-aside, a bigger pitch, and longer playing time. But we are improving week on week, and all this football will benefit the team by the time the U13 competition begins.

We would like to congratulate the U15 Feile team on a superb performance against Cooley in Darver last Saturday. We also wish the six U14 Gers players representing Louth this Sunday v Offaly, the best of luck in their semi-finals.
