U14 Boys impress
Division 1 League
Geraldines 6.13 St Joseph’s 2.09
Our 14 Boys impressed on Wednesday night after making the short trip to Cluskey Park to meet our neighbours St Joseph’s. The Gers got quickly out of the traps and had 1.01 on the scoreboard within the first few minutes. The Joes hit back with a goal of their own but for the rest of the half the Gers took over and with the wind at the their back, Sean McKenna, Noah Lauaki, Odhran McShane, Aswanth Sivaraman, Mal Madine, Finn Madine, Eoghan Sweeney and Conor Whitmarsh kicked some great scores, spreading the ball wide and always playing as a team. When the short whistle blew the Gers lead by 4.10 to 1.03.
The Gers started the 2nd half strong but playing against the wind had to withstand a Joes onslaught mid way through the half but strong goalkeeping from Oran Garavaglia helped by tight marking full back line play from Thomas Quinn-Stuttard, Owen McGahon, Sean Costigan and Ronan Traynor kept the Joes at bay. The Gers were driven on by fine half back line play from Aodhan Gibbons, Jack Greene and Connor Ward and hard running forward play from Eoghan Traynor and Conall Bowden. With a few minutes left to play Aaron Walsh finished off the scoring with another well taken goal to leave the final score 6.13 to 2.09 in the Gers favour.
All 19 players contributed greatly to this impressive performance. Thanks to the Joes for the game.
Next up on Wednesday is a home game against Mattock/Hunterstown in the U15 League Division 3. Best of luck lads 👍
