Na Piarsaigh 3-10. Geraldines 2-5

After a month of inactivity the Geraldines juniors got a valuable 60 minutes under their belts. With the junior league back next Tuesday The management gave everyone a run changing the system of play to suit the mobile unit they had available. In fact it was impossible to tell where half of them were playing.
Piarsaigh built up an early lead with their blend of first team players & first team players proving a challenge for the Gers lads. A blistering run from Cathal O Brien saw his shot comeback of the crossbar and finished to the net by Ciaran Peelo, however referee David J McArdle disallowed the goal for a square ball. It was a harsh call.

However momentum had swung the Geraldines way and a good score from Cathal saw us trail by 4. Our momentum was halted however when a Paul Molloy attempt at a point went that high that it took 3 minutes to come down. Referee McArdle took advantage of the water break as we waited for the ball to come back. Amazingly as it did return to the earths atmosphere the Piarsaigh fullback fell asleep and pushed Peelo over. The resulting penalty was dispatched to the bottom corner by Shane Rogers.

Na Piarsaigh started the second half strongly scoring three goals that reminded us all why Darren Kearney retired. In fairness he must have been questioning his decision to come back when he looked at the full back line .

The Gers fought back with some good scores including a fabous goal from Paul Clarke. Despite losing there were some positives. The return to action of Nicky Mackin after a two year absence from the game was great to see and likewise Edward Smyth made his long awaited season debut.

The game was however marred by an unfortunate incident when Joe Conlon challenged a decision by the referee and looked him in the eye stating “I have previous with referees you know” No one had any idea what Joe was talking about.

Unfortunately Sean Watters picked up another groin strain !!!!
The management were upset at the belligerent behaviour of JP , arriving late and demanding to be put on straight away.

Davy Norton , Senan Duffy , David O Connell & Patrick Craven played the full sixty and young FerdiaMcDonnell got some valuable experience
